You have received your research paper writing assignment.   If you have not been assigned a topic; you need to choose one.  Should your topic pertain to a certain subject in a discipline?   Do you know what topic interest you?    Do you have time to find a related topic?  Do you need help?
What is your research assignment?   Do you understand your assignment?  How many written pages are required?  What sources and resources can be used to complete your assignment?  What are you considering?  Just remember; the topic can determine a successful outcome for you paper.   You may have to choose your topic from a list or be free to make your own choice.   Make sure your topic is interesting.  Choose a topic that holds your interest. Your topic must be relevant.  Be able to control the flow of your topic.  Ensure enough information is available; but not too broad.  Make it manageable.

You need to narrow your topic.  You can focus on:  subject, discipline, culture, persons, group, event, region, environment, population, age, group, ethnicity, theory, approach, studies, observations, or experiments.
Your daily life provides numerous topics of interest for your paper.  Hot topics are online.  Sizzling topics on reality shows, news, entertainment, and talk shows.  Just look around.  Talk to your classmates.  Talk to your professors.  Talk to your family.  Talk to your friends.  Talk to your coworkers.   You need to give 110% to the preparation of your research paper.  The first step is a great topic.  You need to choose a strong topic.  You need to be able to access the necessary information for an effective paper.
Are resources available?   Are databases accessible?  You need to read pertaining to your selected topic.  How much information do you need?  Do you need a question?  Do you need a hypothesis?  Do you need an opinion?  Do you need a cause and effect?  Do you need to persuade?   Do you need a comparison and contrast?  What type of publications do you need?  What is the minimum number of references needed?  What about the concept?  What about keywords? What about terms?
Procrastination steals opportunity.  Don't delaly.
